JARRAHDALE FOREST PROTECTORS

Since its formation in July 2009 the Jarrahdale Forest Protectors, a group formed to tackle various threats to the town of Jarrahdale, has become a strong voice with huge community support.

This was clearly demonstrated at the annual Log Chop held on 4 October when $700 was raised from concerned visitors to Jarrahdale. The group has also received funding from the SJ RSL, as President Ric Giblett said ‘our aims are worth supporting’.

These funds will be go towards our aims of preventing logging in the Mundlimup Coupe 03 which is within one kilometre of the townsite; raising awareness of the Wungong Catchment Thinning Trial and developing a buffer of jarrah forest around Jarrahdale.

The group continues to meet with the Forest Products Commission and Department of Environment and Conservation in order to remove the immediate threat of logging jarrah forest untouched for the last 80 year . However, Jarrahdale Forest Protectors are also taking advice from the Conservation Council of WA and other forest conservation groups in order to ensure our aims are not compromised.
